Girls on the Run & Girls on Track Coaches needed Date Posted: Wednesday, 11 December 2013 12:32
Girls on the Run® Vermont needs you!
Girls on the Run is a nationwide program that recognizes every girl is special, every girl is strong and every girl is a winner. It’s about running, but through an established curriculum it also teaches girls about health, friendship, body image, self-esteem, and community service.
In Vermont, more than 100 schools and organization participated last year. How can you help the program at Montpelier Union Elementary and Main Street Middle School? You can volunteer to coach after school, twice a week for ten weeks! No running experience is required - all you need is an enthusiasm for working with the girls and a commitment to being a good role model.
Ready Set Run! Boys Running Coach Needed Date Posted: Tuesday, 10 December 2013 12:41
Ready, Set, Run! is coming to the Montpelier Recreation Department. Come Join in the fun! Your child will learn about and practice fitness, good nutrition, citizenship, and goal setting all while having fun and being safe. Montpelier Recreation Department will participate as a Tracking Group in this program. Tracking groups meet weekly with a coach. The coach will give your child an organized way to get motivated, educated and keep track of their progress in the Ready, Set, Run! program. Spring groups are forming now for boys & girls grades 3 - 5.
How it Works
§ We provide a Tracking Manual with 12 weeks of lessons and fun activities, including a tracking calendar for each participant.
Participants use the tracking calendar to chart their healthy eating and “helping hands” (citizenship activities), record their program goals and log their fitness miles. Miles are submitted to the RSR! office monthly.
§ In addition to mileage incentives, a t-shirt, medal and finisher’s certificate, participants receive monthly newsletters filled with activity ideas, citizenship challenges and tasty recipes
§ The Montpelier group will participate in the annual YAM SCRAM
ATTENTION PARENTS: Want to get involved? We are looking for enthusiastic parents who are interested in helping assist coaches at weekly meetings and end of the season YAM SCRAM. If you are interested in assisting, please contact the Montpelier Recreation Department.
